GPI Insurance is one of Georgia’s leading insurance companies, serving customers across a wide range of insurance products. As claims volumes grew, the company faced a familiar operational challenge. With Briano’s ClaimPilot, GPI is automating the extraction and processing of information from unstructured claim documents, helping its teams work faster, more consistently, and at greater scale.

The challenge

GPI’s claims processing workflow relied heavily on manual data entry.

Customers submit claims and supporting documentation in a variety of formats, often as photographs or scanned images of receipts, invoices, medical forms, and other documents. Front-desk and claims teams then manually review these files, extract the relevant information, and enter it into GPI’s internal systems.

This process could take approximately 15–20 minutes per claim, creating a substantial operational workload across teams.

The challenge became even more significant during periods of high demand. When demand increased significantly, incoming claims could accumulate faster than they could be processed. Because claims were generally handled on a first-in, first-out basis, periods of elevated demand could result in customers waiting 3–5 days for their claims to be processed. For GPI, the opportunity was clear: automate the most repetitive part of the workflow while maintaining the accuracy and controls required in insurance operations.

The solution: AI-powered claims data extraction

GPI implemented ClaimPilot, Briano’s AI-powered claims processing solution, to automate the extraction and structuring of information from claim documentation.

Instead of employees manually reading each document and transferring information into GPI’s systems, ClaimPilot analyzes submitted files and converts unstructured information into structured data according to a predefined format.

The solution was designed to:

This effectively removes the manual document-reading and data-entry stage from the claims workflow, allowing employees to focus on higher-value tasks.

Integration into GPI’s existing infrastructure

Briano provided GPI with an API, which was integrated into the company’s existing systems.

The implementation, integration, and testing process took approximately one month, allowing GPI to introduce the AI-powered workflow without replacing its existing core systems.

The results

The implementation is ongoing, with GPI and Briano continuing to measure the full business impact and identify opportunities for further optimization.

Early operational results indicate that ClaimPilot can save the claims team approximately 50–60% of the time previously spent on the manual processing stage.

The solution has helped GPI:

By removing a repetitive manual step from the workflow, GPI can increase processing capacity without requiring the same proportional increase in manual effort as claim volumes grow.

The outcome

With ClaimPilot, GPI is moving toward a faster, more scalable, and AI-enabled claims processing operation.

Rather than replacing the existing claims workflow, ClaimPilot acts as an intelligent processing layer: reading incoming documents, extracting relevant information, validating it, and delivering structured data to the teams and systems that need it.

The next phase will focus on measuring the solution’s business impact in greater depth and identifying additional opportunities for automation and deeper integration, including potential AI-powered recommendations.
